Toy Car Scanner is built so that we know as little about you and your child as possible.

What the app does with photos

When you tap the scan button, the photo is sent securely to our server, which passes it to an AI service (Anthropic's Claude API) to identify the car, and the answer comes straight back. We do not store your photos on our servers. The photo is processed to answer one question — "which car is this?" — and that's it. Photos you choose to save in My Garage are stored only on your device (and your own device backups) and never sent to us.

What we store

• An anonymous device identifier (a random code created on your device) so we can count how many scans you've used and apply any scans you've purchased. It is not linked to a name, email, account, or advertising identity — none of those exist in this app.
• Purchase records (which product was bought, verified with Apple) tied to that same anonymous code, so your scans are still there if you reinstall.
• Scan counts per month, for the free allowance.

What we don't do

• No accounts, no sign-in, no profiles.
• No ads and no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
• No selling, sharing, or renting of data — there's nothing to sell.
• No chat, no social features, no links out of the app for children.
• No precise location, contacts, microphone, or any sensor beyond the camera you point.

Children's privacy

The app is designed for families. It collects no personal information from children beyond the transient scan photo described above. Purchases are locked behind a parental gate. The only data tied to usage is the anonymous device code described above.

Third parties

• Apple processes payments and verifies purchases (see Apple's privacy policy).
• Anthropic processes scan photos transiently to identify cars, under their API data-handling terms, which do not permit using API data to train models by default.
• Cloudflare hosts our server infrastructure.

Your choices

Delete the app and everything on-device is gone. To ask us to delete the server-side scan counts and purchase records for your device code, contact us at the address below (note: without the code from your device we cannot look you up — that's a feature).
